I have to admit that while I enjoy cooking, baking desserts is not my favorite thing. I am more of a Nerd Rope kind of girl :) But...I love, love this cake. Would you like to make one? Are you willing to wait 10 days? Well, let's get started!
Take a gallon baggie and put 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk inside and mash it together well. Write the date on the baggie and let the waiting begin :0) Everyday for 5 days, you will mash on the bag and let out any excess air. If you ever had Amish Friendship Bread starter before, this is the same thing (only you don't have to wait for a friend to give you some!).
Now on the 5th day you will need to add 1 more cup of flour, sugar and milk to the baggie and mash together well. Continue mashing the bag everyday again until the 10th day.
Here is the recipe for the basic cake and I will tell you what to add to make it an Almond Joy cake at the bottom of this post.
Day 10:
Pour the entire contents of the baggie into a NON-METAL bowl. (Don't use anything metal to stir this recipe).
add 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1 1/2 cups milk to the bowl and mix well.
Place one cup of this mixture in a new baggie, put a date on it and start the process of waiting and mashing again. If you only want to make one cake, you can make three more baggies and give them away to your friends. I am usually not very friendly :) and make 4 cakes.
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
To the remaining batter (approximately 1 cup) add:
3 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp of cinnamon
1/2 tsp of vanilla extract (you will use almond extract for the Almond Joy cake)
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups flour
1 large box of instant pudding (I use vanilla for the basic cake and chocolate for the AJ cake)
ALMOND JOY CAKE ADDITIONS:
use almond extract instead of vanilla
use chocolate pudding
add 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
add 1/2 cup shredded coconut
add 1/2 cup chopped almonds
Mix all of these ingredients well with a NON-METAL spoon. Grease a bundt pan and dust the pan generously with sugar. Pour the batter in evenly and cook for at least one hour. When I make the basic recipe, it usually cooks in an hour. When I make the Almond Joy cake, I usually have to add 10 more minutes.
Remove from the oven and cool for 10 minutes. Turn it onto a serving plate and enjoy! This cake freezes VERY well. I make 4 cakes every 10 days and freeze 3 of those. By the time the next 10 days roll around, we have usually devoured most of the cakes in the freezer :)
You can experiment and use different kinds of pudding and even add chopped fruit to the basic recipe. Enjoy!!!

You can be certain I will be trying this delicious sounding cake! I am always looking for simple recipes that taste good to offer in my bakery. I think a good ganache poured over the chocolate cake would be divine. Thanks for posting it!
